Christy Carroll is a multidisciplinary designer and chronically curious person who explores the harmonies between human creativity and emerging technologies.
Based in Austin, Texas, I explore how creative experiences transform us from the inside out. Drawing on two decades of design and tech expertise, I bring an artist's sensitivity to understanding how these experiences reshape our neural pathways, deepen our somatic awareness, and awaken our innate wisdom.
I'm fascinated by how artificial intelligence might help us tune more deeply into our own creative intuitions and embodied wisdom, and I reject the idea that technology will simply outsource our individual creativity to machines. My current experiments explore the intersection of external and internal intelligence, seeking ways to make human-AI interaction more empathetic, personal, and alive with possibility.
When I'm not crafting these explorations from my back porch office or building something with my hands, you'll find me on my bike, at a show, listening to an audiobook in Austin traffic, or seeking adventure in nature with my dogs and my people.
“I’ve worked with Christy for the past two years and relied on her expert visual design skills and thoughtful approach to AI design. What differentiates Christy as a collaborator is that she cares just as much about the work as the people (client or teammate) who make it. She’ll magically turn you into her design co-conspirator, and the work will be better because of it.”
Design Lead for the Americas at IBM’s Cloud Garage
This collaborative spirit has been the throughline of my twenty-year journey through product design, brand development, and user experience. I’ve helped organizations from scrappy startups to Fortune 500 companies translate their values into meaningful user experiences. See my CV for the full story.
“I have had the pleasure of partnering on client delivery with Christy directly. In a highly technical environment, we were able to drive the client to considering their users’ needs. We encouraged them to shed their previous constraints and work towards new user-centric approaches. Christy’s ability to keep her feet planted and be high level allowed us to do this without compromising the reliability of the solution.
Furthermore, she has excellent taste in music and is down for a live show!”

Currently, I'm exploring the beautifully weird intersection of human-AI interaction, with a focus on how we might thoughtfully externalize aspects of human wisdom into digital forms that enhance rather than replace our innate capabilities. Recent experiments include:
Developing frameworks for creating ethical AI mentors that amplify our inner wisdom rather than override it
Exploring how humans can maintain agency and authenticity while leveraging AI as a tool for personal growth
Developing somatic practices for grounding in embodied wisdom to inform AI interaction, creating more authentic and aligned human-AI partnerships
Investigating how ancient philosophical concepts about human potential might be reimagined through the lens of artificial intelligence
